EVERYDAY MIRACLES

This post is dedicated to my Colombian "daughter" Sarita. She had never before seen a dandelion and suddenly, the world is full of them. She adores them and thinks we're crazy to call them weeds.

The miracles of nature do not seem miracles
because they are so common.
If no one had ever seen a flower,
even a dandelion would be
the most startling event in the world.

They are so bright and sunny. We really shouldn't call them weeds

I've always loved dandelions myself! They make me think of summer and sunshine! I remember as a child picking whole bouquets of dandelions for my mom or grandmothers!

Did you make necklaces out of the stalks? I was explaining all that to Sarita. I guess I'll just have to show her.

Yes- I remember making crowns and necklaces. And of course the boys always thought it was funny to do the "slide" trick. They would tell the story about a little girl who went down the slide and wet her pants while running the dandelion down your arm so it turned all yellow. Aren't little boys so mature?
